The Book Club was started in 2003. We have approximately 25 members ( mostly women, one man) who meet from November through April on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. at the library. Each season, members submit the names, authors and brief description of books they would recommend for the next year. A list is compiled by the coordinator after which members vote for their choice of 6 books. At the April meeting the winning books are disclosed and the schedule is set up for the following season with members volunteering to lead each discussion.
We read both fiction and non-fiction and try to include a Classic book in our choices each season. The diversity in age, life experiences and geographical background contribute to a lively discussion each month.

Longboat Key Library members may choose from a collection of several hundred popular movies and TV Series in DVD Format.
Members may check out DVDs for fourteen days. Non-Members are able to purchase DVDs for $5.00
